Ingredients
  

  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk of choice
  • 1/3 cup plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon optional, but recommended
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons oil canola or melted coconut oil
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for the glaze
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder for chocolate glaze
  • 2 tablespoons milk of choice more if needed for glaze consistency
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla for the glaze
  • a pinch salt optional, for the glaze
  • Toppings of choice shredded coconut, sprinkles, etc.

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Step 2: Lightly grease your donut pan with oil or cooking spray.
  3. Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, Greek yogurt, oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Step 4: In another bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, sea salt, and cinnamon. Mix well.
  5. Step 5: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Step 6: Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
  7. Step 7: Place the donut pan in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  8. Step 8: Remove the donuts from the oven and let them cool in the pan for about 5 minutes.
  9. Step 9: Prepare the glaze by combining powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, vanilla, and a pinch of salt in a bowl.
  10. Step 10: Once the donuts are cool, dip the tops into the glaze and add your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • To refrigerate, store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze wrapped donuts in plastic wrap for up to 3 months.
  • Reheat in the microwave for 10-15 seconds or in the oven at 350°F for a few minutes.
