Ingredients

  • 8 ounces White Chocolate high-quality, chopped
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter softened at room temperature
  • 2 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 dash Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Heavy Cream optional

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Electric mixer
  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Spatula
  • Piping Bags and Tips

Method

  1. Start by chopping the white chocolate into small pieces to ensure even melting. Place it in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth. Be careful not to overheat it!
  2. In a mixing bowl, use your electric mixer to beat the softened unsalted butter until it’s light and fluffy. This usually takes about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Once the white chocolate has cooled slightly, pour it into the creamed butter. Mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the powdered sugar to the mixture. Beat on low speed until it’s incorporated, then increase to medium speed.
  5. Mix in the vanilla extract and a dash of salt. This will enhance the flavors of your White Chocolate Buttercream.
  6. If your buttercream is too thick, add a tablespoon of heavy cream to reach your desired consistency. Beat until smooth.
  7. Give your buttercream a taste test! If you prefer it sweeter, add a bit more powdered sugar. If you want a richer flavor, consider adding a touch more melted white chocolate.
  8. Your White Chocolate Buttercream is now ready to use! Pipe it onto cupcakes, spread it on cakes, or enjoy it straight from the bowl. If you're not using it right away, store it properly.

Notes

  • Store leftover buttercream in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • Freeze buttercream for up to three months; thaw in the refrigerator overnight before using.
  • Re-whip buttercream after storage to restore its creamy texture.
