Directions: Vegan Teriyaki Sauce
- In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch with 1/4 cup of cold water. Whisk until smooth and set aside.
- In a small saucepan, combine the remaining 1/4 cup cold water, soy sauce or tamari, maple syrup, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and minced garlic.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir gently, bringing it to a simmer. Allow it to cook for about 2-3 minutes.
- Whisk in the cornstarch mixture once the sauce is simmering. Continue to stir as it thickens for about 1-2 minutes.
- Taste your Vegan Teriyaki Sauce and adjust flavors if necessary.
- Once thickened to your liking, remove from heat and allow to cool. Use immediately or store in a container.
Notes
- This sauce can be used as a marinade for tofu or tempeh.
- Add sesame oil for an extra layer of flavor.
- Spice it up with red pepper flakes or sriracha.
