Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 40 g unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup water
  • 200 g granulated sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Storage jar

Method

Instructions
  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt to eliminate lumps in the cocoa powder.
  2. Pour in the water and stir until the dry ingredients are fully dissolved. The mixture will be quite liquid at this stage.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Continuously whisk the mixture as it heats up, ensuring it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan.
  4. Once the mixture starts to simmer, reduce the heat to low and stir for about 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla to enhance the flavor.
  6. Allow the sauce to cool slightly before transferring it to a storage jar. Let it cool completely at room temperature before sealing and refrigerating.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
