Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 1.5 cups light brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2.5 cups chocolate chips
  • 1.5 cups sprinkles divided
  • extra sea salt for sprinkling on cookies, if desired

Equipment

  • Stand Mixer
  • Baking Sheets
  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cookie scoop

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and sea salt.
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat the room-temperature butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until incorporated. Be careful not to overmix!
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips and 1 cup of the sprinkles until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
  8. Before baking, gently press a few additional sprinkles onto the tops of the cookie dough balls.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers look slightly underbaked.
  10. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

  • For deeper flavor, consider toasting the chocolate chips before adding them.
  • Add chopped nuts or crushed pretzels to the dough for extra crunch.
  • Experiment with different types of sprinkles to match your occasion.
