Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil or olive oil
  • 1 to 2 pounds fresh salmon, cut into individual filets
  • 1 ½ teaspoons sea salt, to taste
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons liquid aminos or soy sauce

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the honey, liquid aminos or soy sauce, garlic powder, paprika, and sea salt. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  2. Place the salmon filets in a shallow dish or resealable bag. Pour the marinade over the salmon, ensuring that each piece is generously coated. Let the salmon marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours.
  3. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with avocado oil or olive oil.
  5. Remove the salmon from the marinade and place each piece on the prepared baking sheet. Reserve the remaining marinade for basting later. Bake the salmon for about 12-15 minutes.
  6. Halfway through the cooking time, brush the salmon with the reserved marinade.
  7. Once the salmon is cooked through, remove it from the oven and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Serve with your choice of sides.

Notes

  • Add a teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the marinade for some heat.
  • Don’t overcook the salmon; it’s done when it flakes easily.
  • Substitute maple syrup for honey if preferred.
