Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup sweet onion diced
  • 1 cup red bell pepper diced
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 to taste Salt
  • 1 to taste Pepper
  • 28 ounce can crushed tomatoes

Method
 

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced sweet onion and diced red bell pepper. Sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, being careful not to burn it.
  3. Add the Italian sausage to the skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks for about 7-10 minutes until browned.
  4. Stir in the dried oregano, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir to combine. Bring to a simmer and reduce heat to low. Let cook for about 15-20 minutes.
  6. Adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve over pasta or as desired.

  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
