Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 10-11 cups plain popcorn air-popped or microwave, kettle corn works too
  • 2 bags popcorn (3.29 ounce each, butter or kettle corn)
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips for coating
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter for flavor and texture
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter to melt the mixture
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for flavor
  • 3 cups powdered sugar for sweetness, adjust to taste

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Medium saucepan
  • Baking sheet
  • Rubber spatula
  • Wax Paper or Parchment Paper

Method

Instructions
  1. Step 1: Pop the Popcorn. Start by popping your plain popcorn. Remove any unpopped kernels and place the popped popcorn into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Step 2: Melt the Chocolate Mixture. In a medium saucepan over low heat, add the semisweet chocolate chips, creamy peanut butter, and unsalted butter. Stir continuously until melted and well combined. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Step 3: Coat the Popcorn. Pour the melted chocolate-peanut butter mixture over the popped popcorn. Use a rubber spatula to gently fold until evenly coated, being careful not to crush the popcorn!
  4. Step 4: Add the Powdered Sugar. Sprinkle the powdered sugar over the coated popcorn and gently mix again until all the popcorn is coated.
  5. Step 5: Cool on Baking Sheet. Spread the Puppy Chow Popcorn onto a lined baking sheet in an even layer. Allow it to cool for about 30 minutes.
  6. Step 6: Serve and Enjoy. Once cooled, break apart any clumps and transfer to a serving bowl. Enjoy immediately or store for later!

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container to maintain crunchiness.
  • Best enjoyed within a week for optimal flavor and texture.
  • You can freeze it for up to a month for longer storage.
