Ingredients

For the Oreo Balls:
  • 1 package Oreo Cookies 14-ounce package, about 36 cookies
  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese softened
  • 16 ounces Candy Melts
  • 2 tablespoons Creamy Peanut Butter optional
  • Sprinkles or Crushed Cookies for garnish

Equipment

  • Food processor
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Cookie scoop or spoon

Method

Instructions
  1. Step 1: Crush the Oreos. Start by placing the Oreo cookies in a food processor and pulse until finely crushed. Alternatively, place cookies in a zip-top bag and crush with a rolling pin.
  2. Step 2: Combine with Cream Cheese. In a large mixing bowl, combine the crushed Oreos with the softened cream cheese. Mix well until no dry bits remain.
  3. Step 3: Form the Balls. Using a cookie scoop, scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into a ball. Place each ball on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Step 4: Chill the Balls. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to firm up the balls.
  5. Step 5: Melt the Candy Coating. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the candy melts according to package instructions until smooth.
  6. Step 6: Coat the Oreo Balls. Remove the chilled Oreo balls and dip each into the melted candy coating, using a fork to lift them out.
  7. Step 7: Garnish and Set. Place the coated balls back on the baking sheet. Sprinkle with crushed cookies or sprinkles before the coating sets. Allow to cool completely.

Notes

  • Oreo balls can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For longer storage, freeze them for up to three months, separating layers with parchment paper.
  • Consider using different flavors of candy melts for creative variations.
