Prep Time 15 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes
Servings: 8 servings
Course: Frosting
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for flavor
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt to balance sweetness
  • 4 cups powdered sugar provides sweetness and structure

Equipment

  • Mixer
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Piping bags (optional)

Method

  1. In your mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and softened unsalted butter. Using your mixer, beat them together on medium speed until the mixture is smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Add the teaspoon of vanilla extract and the salt. Beat again for about 30 seconds until well incorporated.
  3. Gradually add the powdered sugar, about one cup at a time, mixing on low speed to prevent a sugary cloud. Once all the sugar is added, increase the speed to medium and beat until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Taste the frosting. If you want it sweeter, add more powdered sugar, or if it's too thick, add a splash of milk to reach desired consistency.
  5. Your MUST Try Cream Cheese Frosting is now ready to be spread or piped onto your favorite cakes and cupcakes. Enjoy!
