Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup Light Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tablespoon Instant Coffee
  • 2 1/4 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 4-5 cups Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 cup Rice Krispies Cereal
For the Caramel Layer:
  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Heavy Cream plus more if needed
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter at room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon Kahlua (Optional)
  • a pinch Sea Salt sprinkled on top

Method
 

Directions
  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) for even baking.
  2. Step 2: Line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  3. Step 3: Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Step 4: Beat in eggs, vanilla extract, and instant coffee.
  5. Step 5: Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt, then mix with wet ingredients.
  6. Step 6: Fold in chocolate chips and Rice Krispies.
  7. Step 7: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.

  9. Step 9: Prepare the caramel by melting sugar in a saucepan.
  10. Step 10: Add heavy cream and butter to melted sugar until smooth.
