Ingredients

  • 5 large navel oranges peeled, sectioned, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 6 ounces pineapple tidbits with juice
  • 1 cup flaked coconut
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Cutting board and knife
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Begin by peeling the navel oranges and sectioning them into bite-sized pieces. Cut away the white pith and set aside in a mixing bowl.
  2. Open the can of pineapple tidbits, and pour both the tidbits and the juice into the bowl with the oranges.
  3. Add 1 cup of flaked coconut to the mixing bowl, allowing it to absorb some pineapple juice.
  4. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of powdered sugar over the fruit mixture to enhance sweetness.
  5. Using a spatula, gently fold all the ingredients together without mashing the fruit.
  6. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld.

Notes

  • For a nut-free version, omit coconut or substitute with additional fruit.
  • Customize with other fruits like grapes or cherries for added flavor.
  • Chill the salad for at least 30 minutes for the best taste.
