Ingredients
  

  • 4 ounces butter unsalted, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon Butter Buds
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped almonds

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
  3. Beat in the beaten egg, vanilla extract, almond extract, and Butter Buds until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, and chopped almonds.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Portion the dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving 2 inches between each cookie.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.

  • For a nuttier flavor, toast the almonds before adding.
