Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread 16 oz, crusty
  • 1 cup butter softened, unsalted
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 jalapeños divided, one chopped and one sliced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Knife
  • Spatula
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the French bread in half lengthwise to create two long pieces.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, and one finely chopped jalapeno. Mix until well blended.
  3. Evenly spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the French bread.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and pepper jack cheese generously over the buttered sides. Add sliced jalapeno on top.
  5. Place the prepared bread halves on a baking sheet and bake for about 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  6. Remove the bread from the oven, let it cool for a minute, slice it, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Let your butter soften at room temperature for easier spreading.
  • Taste the garlic mixture before spreading for personal flavor adjustments.
  • Broil the bread for the last minute for a golden-brown finish.
