Gather all the ingredients listed above.
In a medium mixing bowl, pour in 1/2 cup of balsamic vinegar. Add 1 tablespoon of sugar (or honey). Whisk together until the sugar dissolves completely.
Press 4 cloves of fresh garlic into the bowl. Add 2 teaspoons of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Stir to combine.
Slowly drizzle in 1 cup of extra virgin olive oil while continuously whisking to emulsify the dressing.
Taste the vinaigrette and adjust sweetness or tanginess as desired.
Transfer the vinaigrette into a jar or bottle with a tight-fitting lid. Store in the refrigerator for up to a week.
