  • 2 slices whole wheat bread
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter for frying and flavor
  • 1 large egg the star of the sandwich!
  • Kosher salt and pepper for seasoning
  • 1 slice cheddar cheese melty goodness
  • Avocado and tomato slices optional, but recommended for freshness and flavor
  • Mayonnaise as needed for added creaminess (optional)

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients - Gather all your ingredients and slice avocado and tomato if using.
  2. Step 2: Heat the Skillet - Place the non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add unsalted butter and let it melt.
  3. Step 3: Fry the Egg - Crack the egg into the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until the white is set but yolk remains runny. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Step 4: Add the Cheese - Place cheddar cheese on top of the egg during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.
  5. Step 5: Toast the Bread - Toast the whole wheat bread until golden brown.
  6. Step 6: Assemble the Sandwich - Spread mayonnaise on toasted bread, place fried egg with cheese, and add avocado and tomato if using. Top with the other slice of bread.
  7. Step 7: Serve and Enjoy - Slice the sandwich in half and enjoy warm!

Notes
