Ingredients

  • 1 can refried beans 15 to 16-ounce
  • 1 jar chunky salsa 16-ounce (mild or medium)
  • 1 container guacamole 13-ounce
  • 1 container sour cream 16-ounce
  • 1 package taco seasoning 1-ounce
  • 1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese or a Mexican blend
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced green onions
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro optional
  • to taste Tortilla chips for serving

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Spatula
  • Knife and cutting board

Method

  1. Step 1: Prepare Your Baking Dish. Start by choosing a 9x13 inch baking dish. This will give you plenty of space for all those delicious layers.
  2. Step 2: Layer the Refried Beans. Spread the refried beans evenly across the bottom of the dish. Use a spatula to smooth it out for a nice even layer.
  3. Step 3: Add the Salsa. Next, layer the salsa over the refried beans. Be generous to ensure each bite has that burst of flavor.
  4. Step 4: Spread the Guacamole. Dollop the guacamole on top of the salsa, then gently spread it out. The creaminess of the guacamole complements the other layers beautifully.
  5. Step 5: Mix the Sour Cream and Taco Seasoning. In a mixing bowl, combine the sour cream and taco seasoning. Mix well until smooth and evenly incorporated. Spread this mixture over the guacamole layer.
  6. Step 6: Sprinkle on the Cheese. Now it’s time for the cheese! Sprinkle the shredded sharp cheddar or Mexican blend cheese evenly over the sour cream layer.
  7. Step 7: Top with Olives and Green Onions. Finish it off by scattering the sliced black olives and green onions on top. If you’re using cilantro, add it now for that fresh touch.

Notes

  • Feel free to mix and match layers to suit your taste.
  • For a different texture, use fresh pico de gallo instead of salsa.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
