Course: Appetizer
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 1 pound white American cheese cubed
  • 1/2 pound sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 can diced tomatoes with green chilies 10-ounce, undrained
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Fresh cilantro chopped (for garnish)

Equipment

  • Crock Pot
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Serving Spoon

Method

  1. Start by cubing the white American cheese into small pieces. Grate the sharp cheddar cheese if you haven't already. This will ensure a smooth melting process.
  2. In your crock-pot, add the cubed white American cheese, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, undrained diced tomatoes with green chilies, and whole milk.
  3. Sprinkle in the chili powder, ground cumin, garlic powder, and onion powder. These spices will enhance the dip's flavor, adding a lovely warmth without overpowering the cheese.
  4. Gently stir all the ingredients together until they are well combined. Then, cover the crock-pot with its lid.
  5. Set your crock-pot to the low setting and let it cook for about 2 to 3 hours. Stir occasionally to ensure the cheese melts evenly and doesn’t stick to the sides.
  6. Once the cheese is fully melted and the dip is creamy, it’s time to serve! Stir one last time before ladling it into a serving bowl. Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro for a burst of color and freshness.

Notes

  • You can add jalapeños for an extra kick.
  • Mix in cooked ground beef or chorizo for a heartier dip.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
