Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 2 cups diced ripe avocado (about 2 medium avocados)
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated garlic
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • ½ cup finely diced tomato
  • 3 tablespoons minced onion
  • 2 tablespoons minced cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon minced jalapeño (optional)

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Fork or potato masher
  • Measuring spoons
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Serving bowl

Method

Instructions
  1. Step 1: Prepare the Avocados - Start by cutting the avocados in half. Remove the pit and scoop the flesh into your mixing bowl. Mash the avocados with a fork or a potato masher until you reach your preferred level of creaminess—chunky or smooth.
  2. Step 2: Add Lime Juice - Immediately add the freshly squeezed lime juice to the mashed avocados. This not only adds flavor but also helps prevent the avocados from browning.
  3. Step 3: Incorporate Garlic and Seasonings - Mix in the freshly grated garlic, kosher salt, and freshly cracked black pepper. Stir well to ensure the seasonings are evenly distributed throughout the avocado.
  4. Step 4: Fold in Fresh Ingredients - Gently fold in the finely diced tomato, minced onion, minced cilantro, and optional minced jalapeño. Be careful not to over-mix; you want to maintain some texture.
  5. Step 5: Taste and Adjust - Taste your Classic Guacamole and adjust the seasoning if necessary. You may want to add a bit more lime juice, salt, or pepper according to your preference.
  6. Step 6: Serve Immediately - Transfer your guacamole to a serving bowl and enjoy it right away with your favorite chips, tacos, or fresh vegetables.

Notes

  • Store guacamole in an airtight container to keep it fresh.
  • Press plastic wrap against the surface to minimize browning.
  • Refrigerate for up to 1-2 days for best flavor.
