- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Step 2: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer.
- Step 3: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the packed brown sugar and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Allow to boil for 3 minutes without stirring, then remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Step 4: Carefully pour the hot toffee mixture over the arranged saltine crackers and spread it evenly with a spatula.
- Step 5: Bake for 5 to 7 minutes until bubbly and slightly golden.
- Step 6: Remove from the oven and sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let sit for 5 minutes to soften.
- Step 7: Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee.
- Step 8: Allow to cool at room temperature for 30 minutes, then refrigerate for another hour to set completely.
- Step 9: Once set, break into pieces and enjoy!
