Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix 15.25 ounce
  • 1 package chocolate fudge instant pudding mix 3-ounce (dry)
  • 5 ounces plain Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 1 cup vegetable or canola oil
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup chocolate syrup such as Hershey's
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 cup chocolate fudge instant pudding mix dry

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • 9x13-inch baking pan
  • Toothpick or Skewer
  • Hand mixer or stand mixer
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, Greek yogurt (or sour cream), vegetable oil, milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt. Blend until smooth.
  2. Pour the batter into the prepared 9x13 inch baking pan and bake for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Using a toothpick or skewer, poke holes all over the top of the cake.
  4. In a medium bowl, mix the chocolate fudge pudding with the sweetened condensed milk and chocolate syrup until smooth.
  5. Pour the pudding mixture over the cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  6. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream with the confectioners' sugar and chocolate pudding mix until stiff peaks form.
  7. Spread the whipped topping over the chilled cake. Optionally, decorate with chocolate shavings or sprinkles.
  8. Slice into squares, serve, and enjoy!
