Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 ounces Cool Whip whipped topping or 3 cups freshly whipped cream
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips
  • assorted dippers think pretzels, graham crackers, fruits, or even just a spoon

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Hand mixer or whisk
  • Spatula
  • Serving dish

Method

  1. Start by ensuring your cream cheese is softened. This makes it much easier to blend with the other ingredients. Leave it out at room temperature for about 30 minutes before you start.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and brown sugar. Using a hand mixer, beat the mixture until creamy and smooth. You want to eliminate any lumps for the best texture.
  3. Add a pinch of salt and the vanilla extract to the cream cheese mixture. Beat again until everything is well combined and the flavor is evenly distributed.
  4. If you’re using Cool Whip, gently fold it into the cream cheese mixture using a spatula. If you’ve opted for freshly whipped cream, make sure it’s at stiff peaks before folding it in to maintain that light and airy texture.
  5. Once the whipped topping is fully incorporated, fold in the mini chocolate chips. This step is crucial as it adds that wonderful chewy texture that mimics real cookie dough.
  6. Transfer the dip to a serving dish and cover it with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the dip to firm up slightly. Serve with an array of dippers for a fun and interactive dessert experience!

Notes

  • For a lower sugar option: Substitute half of the brown sugar with a sugar alternative.
  • For a gluten-free version: Use gluten-free dippers like rice crackers or fresh fruit.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
