  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup wheat germ
  • 1 cup light brown sugar firmly-packed
  • 1 cup raw sunflower seeds
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup light-flavored oil (such as canola or grapeseed)
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole raw almonds
  • 1 cup unsweetened flaked coconut
  • 1 cup dried cherries

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, wheat germ, light brown sugar, sunflower seeds, ground cinnamon, and kosher salt. Stir well.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the light-flavored oil, honey, and pure vanilla extract until fully combined.
  5. Pour the wet mixture over the dry ingredients and mix together until well-coated.
  6. Gently fold in the whole raw almonds and unsweetened flaked coconut.
  7. Transfer the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, spreading it out evenly.
  8. Bake the granola for about 25-30 minutes, stirring halfway through.
  9. Once golden brown, remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before stirring in the dried cherries.
  10. Allow to cool completely and then break into clusters before storing in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Customize nuts and seeds based on your preferences, like using pecans or walnuts.
  • Add more honey or maple syrup for a sweeter granola.
  • For added flavor, consider a pinch of nutmeg or almond extract.
