Ingredients

For the Broiled Tilapia:
  • 4 fillets Tilapia about 6 ounces each
  • 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Fresh black pepper
  • 4 teaspoons Olive oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh oregano finely chopped or 1 teaspoon dried
  • 2 tablespoons Whole wheat seasoned breadcrumbs or gluten-free crumbs
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Oven or broiler
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Measuring spoons

Method

Method:
  1. Preheat your broiler on high.
  2. Rinse the tilapia fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Season with kosher salt and fresh black pepper.
  3. In a small mixing bowl, combine the minced garlic, oregano, and olive oil. Mix well to create a paste, then add the breadcrumbs and stir until evenly coated.
  4. Spoon the breadcrumb mixture evenly over each tilapia fillet.
  5. Place the baking sheet under the broiler. Broil for 4-6 minutes or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily, and the topping is golden brown.
  6. Remove from the oven and let the tilapia rest for a minute. Serve with lemon wedges.

Notes

  • Ensure tilapia is patted dry for better seasoning adherence.
  • Keep an eye on the broiler to prevent burning the breadcrumbs.
  • Use low-sodium salt for a healthier option.
