Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter softened at room temperature
  • 3 cups brown sugar packed tightly
  • 4 eggs large
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet or milk chocolate

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Spatula
  • Baking Pan
  • Parchment paper
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even baking.
  2. Line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and packed brown sugar. Whisk until smooth and creamy, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, folding gently with a spatula until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes until edges are golden and a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  8. Let the brownies cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then lift them out using the parchment paper and cool completely on a wire rack before cutting.

Notes

  • For richer flavor, consider browning the butter before mixing.
  • Let brownies cool completely for clean edges when cutting.
  • Experiment with different chocolate chips for variety.
  • Add an extra egg for a cakier texture.
