Directions:
- Begin by slicing the flank steak into very thin strips. This ensures quick cooking and keeps the meat tender.
- In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Mix well and let it sit for about 15 minutes. This will help to tenderize the meat and infuse it with flavor.
- In a large wok or skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Remove the broccoli from the pan and set it aside.
- In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer, allowing it to sear for about 2 minutes without stirring. This helps to develop a nice brown crust.
- Stir in the grated ginger and garlic into the beef, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Combine the hot water, remaining soy sauce, brown sugar, and black pepper in a bowl. Stir well to dissolve the sugar.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the beef and bring to a gentle simmer. Add the broccoli back to the pan, stirring to combine all the ingredients. Allow the sauce to thicken, about 2-3 minutes.
- Drizzle the sesame oil over the dish, giving it a final stir. If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds on top for garnish.
- Serve your Beef and Broccoli hot over a bed of steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal. Enjoy the burst of flavors in every bite!
