Ingredients

  • 1.25 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning (approximately 1 packet)
  • 10 crispy taco shells (or more depending on size)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or Mexican blend)
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Pico de gallo
  • Corn salsa
  • Sour cream
  • Guacamole

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Spatula
  • Baking sheet
  • Oven
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Serving dishes

Method

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure crispy taco shells.
  2. Step 2: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the lean ground beef for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until it's no longer pink.
  3. Step 3: Drain any excess fat, then stir in the tomato sauce and taco seasoning. Simmer for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  4. Step 4: Arrange the crispy taco shells on a baking sheet and fill each shell with the seasoned beef mixture. Top with shredded cheese.
  5. Step 5: Bake for about 10-12 minutes until the cheese is melted and the taco shells are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Step 6: While the tacos bake, prepare your toppings by chopping lettuce, pico de gallo, and corn salsa, and set out sour cream and guacamole.
  7. Step 7: Serve the tacos immediately with your selection of toppings, allowing everyone to customize their own tacos.

Notes

  • Cook the beef mixture a day in advance and store it in the fridge for easy assembly later.
  • Chop toppings ahead of time and store in individual containers to maintain freshness.
  • If you have leftovers, reheat tacos in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
