Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 10 hard taco shells
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Tex-Mex blend or cheddar
  • Toppings: salsa, sour cream, avocado, red onions, lettuce, etc. The more, the merrier!

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Spatula
  • Baking dish
  • Oven mitts

Method

  1. Step 1: Preheat Your Oven - Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This will ensure your tacos get perfectly crispy as they bake.
  2. Step 2: Brown the Ground Beef - In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Use a spatula to break it apart as it cooks. Continue until the meat is browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Step 3: Season the Beef - Once the beef is cooked, add the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, ground cumin, chili powder, and salt and pepper. Stir well to combine, allowing the spices to coat the meat thoroughly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  4. Step 4: Fill the Taco Shells - Place your hard taco shells in a baking dish. Carefully spoon the seasoned beef mixture into each taco shell, filling them generously.
  5. Step 5: Add Cheese - Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the filled taco shells. This will melt beautifully while baking.
  6. Step 6: Bake - Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the taco shells are crispy.
  7. Step 7: Prepare Your Toppings - While the tacos are baking, prepare your desired toppings. Chop up fresh lettuce, slice avocados, and prepare any salsas or sauces you want to serve.
  8. Step 8: Serve & Enjoy - Once the Baked Beef Tacos are out of the oven, let them cool for a minute. Serve them hot with all your favorite toppings on the side, and let everyone customize their own tacos. Enjoy every delicious bite!
