  • 1 pinch cream of tartar

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Cake Base - Bake your chosen cake round and place on a serving platter suitable for the freezer.
  2. Step 2: Layer the Ice Cream - Spread ice cream evenly on cooled cake and freeze for at least 2 hours.
  3. Step 3: Make the Meringue - Whip egg whites, add cream of tartar, and gradually mix in sugar until stiff peaks form.
  4. Step 4: Assemble the Baked Alaska - Cover ice cream with meringue, sealing edges to prevent ice crystals.
  5. Step 5: Bake or Torch the Meringue - Bake at 500°F for 3-5 minutes or use a kitchen torch to brown the meringue.
