Ingredients

  • 1 cup buttermilk provides a tangy base
  • 1 whole avocado ripe
  • 1 teaspoon honey for sweetness
  • 1 clove garlic fresh
  • 4 leaves fresh basil for herbal note
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley or 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill or 1 teaspoon dried dill weed
  • 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon dried minced onion or 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 9 chives fresh
  • 2 teaspoons salt to enhance flavors
  • freshly ground black pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Blender or food processor
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula
  • Storage jar

Method

  1. Gather all the ingredients on your countertop for easy access. Make sure your avocado is ripe for the best creaminess.
  2. In your blender or food processor, combine the buttermilk, avocado, and honey. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  3. Next, add the garlic, basil, parsley, dill, rosemary, dried onion, and chives to the blender.
  4. Sprinkle in the salt and a few cracks of black pepper. Blend once more until everything is well combined and the herbs are finely chopped.
  5. If the dressing is too thick, you can add a little more buttermilk to reach your desired consistency. Blend again to combine.
  6. Taste your dressing and adjust the seasoning if necessary. You might want a bit more salt or a touch more honey, depending on your preference.
  7. Transfer your Avocado Ranch Dressing to a jar or airtight container. It’s best served cold, so refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before enjoying.

Notes

  • Store in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator for best freshness.
  • Best used within 3-5 days due to browning of avocado.
  • To freeze, pour into ice cube trays and thaw overnight in the fridge before use.
