Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water (between 100-110°F, approx 30 seconds in the microwave)
  • 1/3 cup olive oil (adds richness and flavor)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (helps activate the yeast and adds a hint of sweetness)
  • 2 tablespoons active dry yeast (the magic ingredient for fluffy rolls)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (enhances overall flavor)
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (the base for your rolls)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (melted, for brushing on top for a golden finish)

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Whisk or spoon
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper (optional)
  • Clean kitchen towel

Method

  1. Step 1: Prepare Your Yeast Mixture - In a medium bowl, combine the warm water, granulated sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently to mix and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Step 2: Combine Wet Ingredients - Once your yeast mixture is ready, add the olive oil to the bowl. Stir to combine the ingredients, ensuring that everything is well mixed.
  3. Step 3: Mix Dry Ingredients - In a separate large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.
  4. Step 4: Form the Dough - Pour the yeast mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  5. Step 5: Shape the Rolls - Lightly flour your work surface and turn the dough out onto it. Divide into 12 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball.
  6. Step 6: Let the Rolls Rise - Cover the rolls with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise in a warm place for about 20 minutes.
  7. Step 7: Preheat the Oven - Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Step 8: Bake the Rolls - Brush the tops with melted unsalted butter and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Step 9: Cool and Serve - Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before serving.
