Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 box angel food cake mix
  • 1.25 cups water
  • optional toppings such as whipped cream, chocolate chips, or fresh berries

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk or spatula
  • 9x13-inch baking pan
  • Oven
  • Cooling rack

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s hot and ready for your cake.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the entire contents of the chocolate cake mix and the angel food cake mix. Whisk them together until well blended.
  3. Gradually add about 1 1/4 cups of water to the dry mixture. Stir with a whisk or spatula until the batter is smooth and well combined.
  4. Lightly grease your 9x13 inch baking pan to prevent sticking. You can use cooking spray or a bit of oil.
  5. Pour the cake batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out evenly.
  6. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a cooling rack to cool completely.
  8. Once your 3-2-1 Chocolate Cake has cooled, it’s time to slice and serve! You can enjoy it plain or add your favorite toppings for an extra special touch.
